Who is the Faux Press?
The Faux Press was an early adopter of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, back when Williamsburg's street tax was high, and the air was rife with airborne garbage; its asphalt, littered with dog poop, replete with broken glass, condoms & crack vials.
Local businesses closed not at a specific time, but at sunset, in fear for their lives.
Those of us who lived there then made street art and performance to keep ourselves going. We were brave and loved Wburg for its diversity and inspiration.
By 2004 found myself priced out as the burg became hip.
The thing is, my heart's still there.
I need to return. That means a roof over my head.
